Basic Bread Rolls


Really quick and easy recipe for impressive looking dinner rolls with tasty results!

Basic Bread Rolls

  • 150 g Water
  • 1 tsp dry yeast
  • 1 Tbsp sugar (optional)
  • 15 g oil
  • 300 g plain or bread flour
  • 1 tsp salt

Basic Bread Rolls Directions

  1. 1. Preheat oven to 400F or 200C
  2. 2. Add 150g water, 1 tsp yeast & 1 Tbsp sugar into mixing bowl. 
  3. 3. Activate yeast: 2 minutes / 37C / Speed 2.5. Yeast mixture should be slightly frothy at the end of 2 minutes.
  4. 4. Add 10-20g oil, 300g flour & 1 tsp salt (in this order) into mixing bowl. Knead 2 minutes / interval speed.
  5. 5. Remove to lightly oiled 2 litre Thermoserver and allow to proof for 30 minutes.
  6. 6. Tip out onto Thermo-mat and 'cut' into 8 segments with Thermomix spatula. Lightly flatten each segment and form into a round ball of dough.
  7. 7. Arrange dough balls into a sunflower shape on a baking tray, lightly oil the tops and sprinkle with sesame seeds and/or poppy seeds (optional)
  8. 8. Allow to proof a second time for another 15-20 minutes. Bake in hot oven for 20 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Enjoy!
